Summer 2010 News

Happy Summertime Y’all!

Lots of good stuff has been going on, and much more coming up.

The Allmond Brothers Clan made a nutty trip to Tahoe and Reno. To view the ABC at Alpine Meadows performing “Midnight Rider (featuring Sean Leahy),” and “Stand Back” featuring Simon “Eli Jebidah” Kurth as Duane “Sky Frog” Allmond goto www.myspace.com/jimmyleslie or www.youtube.com/user/TrickeyFrets

Shana Morrison’s CD release at the Café Du Nord was a hoot. To see video of the band doing “I Am A Rose” from Shana’s new CD, Joyride, goto http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAeZnvEvyIc

Guitar Player Presents continues to be a gas. The “Jimi Lives!” Hendrix tribute at the Boom Boom Room was off the hook. In addition to performances by Shelley Doty, James Nash, RonKat Spearman, & yours truly the crowd was treated to sit-ins by Jonny Lang, David Hidalgo from Los Lobos, Living Colour’s Doug Wimbish, and more. Thanks tons to all who made it rock. Jimi would be proud.

Music Porn
I interviewed mad ripper Jack White when he and the Dead Weather played the Fillmore. It will be the cover story for the August issue of Guitar Player, which will be available free at Guitar Player Presents Guitarmageddon at the High Sierra Music festival on Friday, July 2 at noon in the Music Hall. More info at http://www.highsierramusic.com/

The September issue of Bass Player will include my Bass Note on Kamara Thomas who rules on bass and vocals in the band Earl Greyhound.

On Friday at noon in the Music Hall, Trickey, Sky Frog, and Warrin’ will be participating in Guitar Player Presents Guitarmageddon. That means six-string mayhem! The theme this year is White Stripes. Trickey sings “My Doorbell.” Sky Frog and Warrin’ will be rippin’ throughout.

On Independence Day from 4-5pm in the Music Hall, the ABC will bust out a smokin’ set for High Sierra featuring very special guests. Afterwards, we’re cruising over to Papa Nut’s legendary RV stage for more jams. Freedom Rocks!
