Summer is in full swing, and I hope you’re making the most of it. I’ve been doing lots of family stuff over the past few months, and now I’ve got a few musical thangs to tell ya about:

Events
8/01 – Guitar Player Presents Sonny Landreth with Shana Morrison & Caledonia @ Great American Music Hall in SF 8pm doors: I’ll be doing double duty by playing in the opening band with Shana, and doing the Guitar Player Presents promotion onsite. Check out the info and a chance to win tix by visiting guitarplayer.com and clicking the top Artist story.

8/09 – Shana Morrison & Caledonia at David Girard Vineyards, Placerville, CA, 6:30pm show

Magazines
Guitar Player Black Crowes Cover Story out now! Please pick up a copy and let me know what you think. And keep an eye out for the September issue, which will contain an abbreviated version of my Jazz Fest coverage. For that complete story, go here: guitarplayer.com/article/2008-new-orleans/may-08/36029W
While you’re visiting guitarplayer.com, check out GPTV. I’ve got my own little channel, New Stuff with Jimmy Leslie, where I plug into the latest gear that comes into the GP office.

The August issue of Bass Player has my Jazz Fest coverage, a story on Black Crowes bassist Sven Pipien, and a piece on Shavo Odadjian from System of a Down. He has a new project called Achozen featuring RZA from Wu-Tang. He’s also started a cool label/musician’s networking site that recently launched, ursession.com. Look for my story on Stone Temple Pilot’s Robert DeLeo in the September issue.

Recordings
I’m still rendering multitrack recordings of live gigs hoping to gather enough good stuff to press a live CD. I’ve posted three tracks, “Save Us!,” “Thank You Song,” and “What You Do” on MySpace. Please give a listen and let me know what you think.

My studio record, Surfin’ the Swamp is available at lots of digital outlets including iTunes, CD Baby, and directly from www.myspace.com/jimmyleslie, as well as the Music page at jimmyleslie.com on. Brick and mortar outlets include Amoeba music in San Francisco, Louisiana Music Factory in New Orleans, and in my hometown of Toledo at Culture Clash records. Reviews are posted on the News/Press section of my Web site.

Here’s to safe and profound musical experiences and journeys in the coming months,

Jimmy
