Happy Spring Time Travelers!

So much goodness goin' on....

"Voodoo Doll" feat Eric McFadden Added to Dance Until Forever Jimmy went back into the studio to record one new song for the digital version of Dance Until Forever. Inspired by a weekend in Chicago that included several trips to Buddy Guy's Legends (where the legend himself really does hang out and perform), "Voodoo Doll" is a nasty rockin' blues tune. Jimmy recruited monster guitar man Eric McFadden (P Funk, Animals, Stockholm Syndrome) and his longtime bass foil James Whiton along with Materialized drummer Dale Fanning for the fantastic sessions. GP honcho Michael Molenda is working on the mix.

Dance Until Forever Digital Release May 1! Jimmy Leslie is the first artist on Guitar Player's new label. The CD, Dance Until Forever, is done and available through this website right now, and will be released through GP's digital distribution on May 1st. Jimmy's hometown paper, the Toledo Blade, ran a nice feature about the record and more. Read it here. Listen to Jonny Ray's WWOZ radio show on May 1 from 11pm to 2am EST to hear the world premier of the single "Voodoo Doll."

Dance Until Forever CD Release Parties set for May in New Orleans, North Bay, and San Francisco Jimmy will celebrate releasing his CD at long last with shows on May 2 in New Orleans at the Daze Between Festival, and opening for Cajun blues guru Tab Benoit on May 24 at the Mystic Theatre in Petaluma, CA, and in San Francisco on May 26 at Slim's. Get details on the Events page.

Guitarfish Festival Seaquel set for Sepember 14, 15, 16 The inaugural Guitarfish Festival took place last September near Tahoe, and Jimmy and the other direcotrs are planning another because Guitarfish was OFF da Hook! It's sure to double in size via sheer positive word of mouth alone. Check www.facebook.com/guitarfishfestival for fun photos and moving testimonials.

Guitarfish is the first "Blue" eco-aware music festival, and flows financially via non-profit Sustainable Tahoe. It didn’t make money this first year, but it didn’t lose a ton either. Guitarfish Festival seeks to bridge the current gap and get the Seaquel flowing through tax-deductible donations. If you are fortunate financially and can contribute any amount to Guitarfish through Sustainable Tahoe, please send an email to j@jimmyleslie.com for details.

Guitarfish Adventures Volume 1.0: Blue Is the New Green Volume 1.0 The first ever eco-musical kids epic--is now available for only $3.99 as a text and images e-book featuring a fabulous forward by the funkiest bassman of all time—Bootsy Collins! Guitarfish Adventures teaches kids about funky music and sustainable fishing. It inspired the Guitarfish Festival. Jimmy plans to perform Guitarfish Adventures at festivals and aquariums in 2012. Check it out at www.guitarfishadventures.net

GP Presents Kicking Ass! The momentum behind GP Presents--which Jimmy founded seven years ago to help promote great national acts and fortify the SF Bay Area's guitar community--is truely encouraging. Capacity crowds of guitar zealots packed Jim Campilongo's Christmas show at Yoshi’s SF, Eric Johnson's epic stop at Slim’s on January 25th, Andy McKee's Acoustic Masters show at the Great American Music Hall in February, and Strunz & Farah's stellar show at Yoshi's Oakland in late March.

Upcoming GP Presnts events include Anders Osborne with Tracorum and Fiver Brown in SF at the Brick & Mortar on April 13, acoustic icon Paco de Lucia at Oakland's Paramount Theatre on April 27th, and Tab Benoit with Jimmy Leslie & The Flow in Petaluma, CA, at the Mystic Theatre on May 24 as well as in San Francisco at Slim's on May 26th. Exciting Stuff!!

Music Porn As always, keep with Guitar Player and Bass Player magazines to read about the cool cats Jimmy interviews each month including Five Finger Death Punch (April GP), Mastodon (May GP), Antoinc Dufour and GP Superstar 2011 champ Mark Kroos (June GP), new Prince Bassist Ida Nielsen and former Gov't Mule bass man Andy Hess (May BP),

Handy Summers Stung is the West Coast's best tribute to the Police and Sting, and was named Best Cover Band by the SF Weekly. Jimmy subbed in with Stung on New Year's Eve, and wound up as a permanant bandmember. Keep an eye on the Events page for gigs. Photos from NYE can be found here.

Opening for Van Morrison in Ireland Jimmy went to Ireland with Shana Morrison and Caledonia to play to huge shows opening for Van Morrison in Belfast and Dublin at the Odyssey and O2 arenas in February. "It was the trip of a lifetime," Leslie reports. See photos from Ireland here, and watch video of Jimmy and Shana performing Irish tunes at Slim's in San Francisco on St. Patty's Day 2012 here.
