Jimmy's Projects

Jimmy Leslie

Jimmy combines West Cost vibrations with New Orleans grooves. His funk pop songs are funkier than most, and his funky
songs are more melodic than most. Leslie's tenor voice covers the same sonic territory as Sting, Stevie Wonder, and Robert Plant.
Jimmy's electric guitar playing is influenced by classic rock and funk, with a splash of surf twang. His acoustic guitar style
is naturally more folk and blues oriented. Jimmy's live band grew out of the Honey Island Swamp Band. The rhythm section
of
Sam Price on bass, and Garland Paul on drums did lots of gigging and recording until they moved back to New Orleans. Jimmy still
plays with them when he's there, and his main San Francisco band now features bassist Jonathan Herrera (Zigaboo Modelist, Garaj Mahal,
Bass Player magazine), drummers Daria "Shani" Johnson (London Street, Trevor Garrod) or Tony Dunn (Tree of Frogs), and keyboardists
Eric Levy (Garaj Mahal) or Joel Nelson (Bo Diddley). Now appropriately called the Jimmy Leslie Connection, these talented players and
singers provide the grooves and backing vocals that round out the sound of Jimmy's original tunes, and a batch of bootylicious covers.

The Honey Island Swamp Band

When the levees broke in the wake of Hurrican Katrina, many New Orleans musicians set up camp in San Francisco. Chris Mule,
Aaron Wilkinson, Sam Price, and Garland Paul began playing swamp blues sets at the Boom Boom Room. Mule had met
Jimmy on tour just before the hurricane when Jimmy was playing with Samantha Stollenwerk, and Mule was playing with Eric Lindell.
Jimmy became a regular Honey Islander while the band was in San Francisco, and he appears on the band's debut CD, which was recorded
at the Plant in Sausalito. Listen to tracks at www.honeyislandswampband.com, or www.myspace.com/honeyislandswampband. Now that
they're all back home in New Orleans, Jimmy jams with them when he's in town or vice versa. Mule and Wilkinson are still on the road with
Eric Lindell a lot, who is now supporting his second killer release on the historic Alligator blues label.

LunaGroove

Cutting edge electronica band LunaGroove plays a new breed of dance music infused with ripping live guitar,
jazzy keyboards, sexy dancers, and mind-blowing visuals. The band does not play any of Jimmy's original songs, although he does
play a lot of lead guitar and provide some vocals atop Alex Theory’s cyber rhythm section. Theory manipulates dual Macintosh laptops
running Ableton Live, a fluid software program that allows on-the-fly interaction with Jimmy Leslie’s firey six-string heroics, and
Jeffrey Gilliam’s cool keys. The stage show is always stimulating. The musicians feed off of the imaginative DJ dance floor mentality
with infectious energy and appealing stage presence. LunaGroove has been inactive as a live act since 2006. Check out the band at www.lunagroove.com

Visitor Jim

Visitor Jim is a band that grew out of singer-songwriter-producer Jim Greer’s solo project, so the CD sounds like a rocked
out version of Greer’s alternative everyman aesthetic. Visitor Jim was Jimmy’s musical priority from 200 to 2002,
when Greer was whisked away to work with Galactic on the Ruckus CD. A full record of basic Visitor Jim tracks
was abruptly abandoned, and the bandmembers drifted into other projects. Greer, Leslie, bassist Jim Bowser, and
drummers Tim Carter and Ryan “Ozone” Eisert remain good friends, so who knows, they may one day
finish the second record and play some shows. Check out the band at www.visitorjim.com
